To become completely and faithfully yourself is the ultimate goal. Its the most difficult human endeavor. Yet we’re all born in someone else’s city. Growing up, our native city will be comfortable, but the first step to the Self is to destroy that city. We must write our own laws, create our own culture, and cultivate our own community. What works for other cities doesn’t always work for yours. And it doesn’t help that other cities will envy, hate, or even attack yours.

But your city should not be made to please another king. In fact, you don’t really get to “choose” how its built — Your wishes aren’t your Destiny. If you build it for anyone else but yourself, then the foundation is one of lies. Resentment and anger comes from see a neighboring city doing what we wished we could; we don’t envy what we don’t want.

You could abide by all customs, rules, and laws and still be far from God. To be faithful to Him you have to become utterly yourself — follow your code.

You have to form your own ideals. You have to write your own record. You have to build your own monument — or dig your own pit. - Keys To Success - Founder of Forbes, 1917
